Kreayshawn “Gucci Gucci” Idol

Kreayshawn “Gucci Gucci” Idol

Okay so the other day I was on my friend’s facebook page when I saw a picture that caught my eye:

I thought it was beautiful. I loved her accessories and style. I had no idea in the world who she was until I read a few comments and found out that she was, Kreayshawn. After that I was all over google and youtube looking at pics and vids. Never heard about her in my life until then; but I did hear a remix of her gucci gucci song a while back. Interesting. Anways I’m not here to talk about music, or her for that matter. She is pretty, and does dress well, but through out her whole “Gucci Gucci” video, I was not at all focused on her, but her alter ego self(or so I thought). The girl who never sang but was just “there,” was stunning. I loved every piece on her. Please, I wish she was the star. Turns out she was never Kreayshawn’s alter ego, but known as lil debbie. Who supposedly doesn’t do anything; but then again almost everyone in hollywood doesn’t really “do anything”. Maybe her job is to just dress good, and make Kreayshawn look better. Hmmmmmm……..Back to her style, let me show you some pics. J’adore! :image

She’s insane right? Love it, as well as Indigo Vanity and others of course:

I’m still working on my signature look. For now all I know is that it is consisted of blue/purple lip stick, nerd glasses, and funky outfits. This post shall be continued…..

Burnt Sugar Pomade Review

Burnt Sugar Pomade Review

From Oyinhandmade.com:

Does your hair love oils? Our “Burnt Sugar” Pomade is a nourishing all-vegetable pomade and styling product named for the uniquely sweet, translucent, and fragrant quality of warm, homemade caramel.

Similar in texture to an old school ‘hair grease,’ This blend of oils, butters, and veggie waxes acts as a humectant and protectant for hair, increasing shine to a high glossy sheen and locking in moisture. It’s packed with essential fatty acids to nourish scalp, and actually sinks into your hair and skin for a long lasting, non-greasy feeling. It’s great for braids, imparts shine and moisture to loose hair, brushes nicely into the hairline for a glossy finish, and adds luster to locks!

Contains virgin coconut cream, mango oil, and hempseed oil in a base of nourishing castor oil. Fragranced with a subtly sweet vanilla-sugar scent that is appropriate for both men and women. Voted “Best of the Best” in Pomade category at naturallycurly.com!

Available in 4oz and 8oz sizes.

HOW TO USE Rub between your fingers or palms to soften/liquefy. Use to moisturize scalp, to twist locs, to seal the ends of twists or braids, to polish a pulled-back style or an updo, to add weight to the canopy of your hair, to weigh down flyaways or control frizz, or to create waves on super short cuts.

Burnt Sugar contains: castor oil, soy wax, organic virgin coconut oil, mango seed oil, olive oil, unrefined hempseed oil, cocoa butter, broccoli seed oil, and fragrance.

Store in a cool, dry place, and use within one year.

My Review:

First lets start off with why oh why did I buy this product in the first place. Was my hair in dyer need of this product? Was it suffering without it? No no no my dear. I bought this product after reading HUNDREDS of positive reviews. So, what exactly do I use it to do?

Let me just say that although this product is a sealer and shiner, I had no need for it at all. For shine I had coconut oil. For sealing I had a 32 FL oz bottle of castor oil. What drew me to this product though was the rave of its smell; and shall I say it does smell amazing. I have used it several times on my loose hair and my mothers’ locs and it barely has a dent. I was very skeptical at first when I discovered how small it was(4 oz!? wtft), but in the end it was still worth it. The pomade does exactly what it says it will do. It smells great, adds shine, and seals in the moisture. I only use this product every once in a while because the smell can linger for a very long time.  Anyways let me tell you what it exactly smells like. The smell reminds me of baked goods. Like sugar cookies, coffee cake, etc. It is also very thick; but when you rub it between your hands it melts into an oil. The texture also feels like a thick butter with grains of  sugar in it. As for the packaging, it’s pretty simple and perfect for the product contained in it because of it warm color. I find myself, whenever I’m bored, pulling the pomade out of my stash and smelling the foocheezy out of it. I will warn you though, not to smell it too much. From a previous experience of mine, the smell got so overpowering and artificial, that I found myself becoming nauseous. It took several days for me to start enjoying the smell like I use to. Just don’t put it too close to your nose.

Pros: Smells great, thick/creamy texture, warm color, does exactly what it’s supposed to(for what I want it for), lasts a very long time, very unique.

Cons: Smell could be overpowering at times, doesn’t slick down my edges(at all), $6.00 shipping is a little too pricey.

Overall this is a really great product by Oyin and I plan on being a return customer of theirs. They have this product in three different sizes(including sample sizes). Prices vary from $3.50 to $16.00. They also just recently changed their packaging to this:burnt sugar hair pomade

Went to the Library

Went to the Library

Books

Okay so I was supposed to post this last Monday when I went to the Library, but I didn’t so here is a mini review of the books I got. I finished reading Can’t get there from here by Todd Strasser. I am one of his biggest fans; his novels are great. Give a boy a gun and Boot Camp are in my faves from his work. Unfortunately, I had to give this book a 3.5 because I found the book very simple and boring, very disappointing. There was nothing unique or fascinating about it. Smh. That book only took me two days. The book I am on now is pretty interesting and is a #1 National Bestseller, Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. It is about a young girl who was lured into an underground cabin where she was raped and murdered by a serial killer. This novel takes place in heaven as well as on Earth while she watches her family fall apart after her death. The beginning and middle of the novel is non stop page turning, until the middle end of the book where it slows down and gets boring again. That’s where I am at the moment and hopefully it picks up soon.

The other novels I got that I will finish reading this week are: Vanished(from my favorite series, Private), You’re  Accepted(a book about how to be unique while facing the college process), Make Lemonade(1st book in trilogy), True Believer(2nd book in trilogy), This Full House(3rd book in trilogy) and last but not least a novel(true story) called In Cold blood that follows the trial of suspects who murdered a family for no reason. Smh. Also this week I plan to pick up the next book after Vanished from the Private Series by Kate Brian. Its a presequel called Book of Spells. Can’t wait; I will post more updates about these books and others from the library.

Also fashion and hair updates will be posted as well. :)

Don’t forget to Like. Thank You! :)

My Review:

This product is one of my favorites from the Shea Moisture line……and yet I am still confused on how I should use it. So lets start with this- the smell. Ah-ma-zing, oh my gosh I love it. I would just buy it for the smell alone it’s so good. It reminds me of a tropical island with…..coconuts and fruity stuff. Any woo, the color of the packaging and design is so appealing to the eye that anyone natural or not would stop in their tracks to look at it. Okay, so the way I use it is as a leave-in after I wash my hair. When I am interested in buying a product I ALWAYS do my research. I check everywhere! Down to the last review on amazon, blogs, youtube, where ever. I check them all. So when I learned that it should(or is recommended) be used on the hair-not the scalp- I was confused. Isn’t it a moisturizer? The point of a moisturizer is for it to moisturize your scalp…right? Hmm…. but then I read below on a comment posted later explaining that it is recommended this way because most people don’t want their hair to be curled at the roots. They want their hair(below the scalp) to do the curling as they styled it. oooooo.

I was also interested in the different ways this product could be used. Some people used it as a daily moiturizer and styler. I didn’t because I am a product junkie who is stingy on her self and considers shea moisture to be used with rarity for special days. Lol. If you’re confused don’t worry I will have a new post sometime this week explaining my “product luxuries.” So back to business; I really do want to try it as a styler but I have 4b/c textured hair and I feel that this product would be definitely too light for me. I love it I really do and I recommend it to anyone who is in need of a daily moisturizer or leave-in. Unfortunately though, it isn’t the best. I mean its not really doing anything special to my hair. Even writing this I am at a conflict. I adore this product so much but I don’t see it as a necessity. The original shea moisture leave-in is definitely a necessity, just not this one. And I love this product so much hopefully a few months from now I will have an update on how I officially feel about this product and whether or not I really need this in my regimen at the moment(even though us product junkies really don’t NEED anything, we just loooove having them). As for now I have mixed feelings on this product. Definitely try it and see how it works for your natural hair. Every one’s hair reacts differently.

pros: Delicious smell, creamy-milky-amazing color and texture, moisturizes hair, and alluring packaging.

cons: Doesn’t do anything special really. Just a moisturizer, no extra curl for my hair texture at all.

Overall, I still love it and so do many others who’ve used this product. So I say you try it. You’ll never know how it will work for you until you do.

Toodles for now :)

P.S.- I went to Shea Moisture’s facebook and asked them how exactly should I use their Curl Milk. Here’s what they said.

Me: “can someone tell me the best way to use the coconut and hibiscus curl and style milk. I love the smell and everything about it but…… can it be used as a leave in or what? Is it better when i use it along with my smoothie?”

Shea Moisture: “ Hello Natural Barbie, Jennifer is correct — please apply to damp hair and work through hair thoroughly then style as desired. You may use this as a styling cream, hair dressing and leave-in conditioner. You may want to follow with our Hold & Shine Moisture Mist for light hold and shine.”

I Love Modcloth…….

I Love Modcloth…….

So I love modcloth and many other vintage like stores(asos, etc.) but, not only am I 17 and without a job but I also need to start saving soon- for college and all. I feel if I want people to see my style, let them not see it one day a week or so; let them see it everyday. If I had all the clothes I wanted than I can be the fashionista that I desire to be. Huuu…. one day i’ll be there. For now I’ll just stay focused on my SATs.
